Walk for Light is conducted by the UMass Police Department (UMPD) in conjunction with the Physical Plant, Residential Life, Student Affairs and Campus Life and the Student Government Association.
It's an opportunity for students and staff to work together to identify safety-related issues on campus and document those concerns for repair or other appropriate follow-up. These observations may include identifying areas of concern due to poor or broken lighting, overgrown trees or bushes that reduce lighting, broken railings or uneven steps, or other safety-related issues. A final report is then compiled and sent to the appropriate UMass department(s) for repair.
We'll meet outside the Student Union main entrance (west side) at 5:30 p.m and end at Dickinson Hall where the UMPD will have drinks and pizza available. Rain date is Nov. 16, same time and place. Though most of the Walk for Light event is outside, please be sure to have a mask for when we do go inside a building for any reason.
