2020 UMass Amherst Orff Schulwerk Festival
March 11—March 12, 2020
Room: Great Hall
UMass Amherst Campus
The 2020 UMass Amherst Orff Schulwerk Festival is a biannual event hosted by music education faculty from the Department of Music and Dance, led by Professor Lisa Lehmberg.
The festival offers elementary music teachers and collegiate music education majors an opportunity to learn more about the Orff Schulwerk approach, which integrates music, movement, speech, and drama to build musicianship. Festival topics and activities will include singing, jazz in elementary general music settings, fresh and exciting new movement activities, children's literature, composition, improvisation, and musical activities in early childhood settings (this topic on 3/12 only). Teachers participating in both days of the festival will be eligible for points toward their professional development.
The guest clinician for the festival is Dr. Patrick Ware, who teaches movement and recorder for the Central Florida University Orff Certification Program and Basic Pedagogy for the Hofstra University Orff Certification Program.
Advance registration is now closed for the event, but late registrants may be accepted on a case-by-case basis by emailing to email@example.com.
