For more than 40 years the FAC has welcomed artists from around the world to campus to share their stories, cultures and artistic expressions. The season begins with a rocking night featuring the Fab Faux on Sept. 23, celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ seminal recordings “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” and “Magical Mystery Tour.”
The season theme continues Oct. 3 and 4 with a production by Irish company Moonfish Theatre titled “Star of the Sea” in which emigrants leave a homeland ravaged by famine in hopes of finding a new home. Other stories of “Finding Home” include that of 40 young female warriors defending their homes in the multimedia production “Qyrq Qyz (Forty Girls)” March 4, 2018 and Machine de Cirque’s acrobatic tale about creating a new home with strangers after surviving an apocalyptic event performed on April 25, 2018.
For young audience members and the young at heart, the FAC welcomes “The Underwater Bubble Show” to the stage on Nov. 30. Inspired by the artistry of Cirque du Soleil, this Latvian production uses drama, mime, dance, puppetry, juggling, sand art and theatrical magic to whisk families to an imaginary bubble world bursting with possibilities.
The FAC will also host the monks from the Drepung Loseling Monastery in Atlanta, Ga., who will create an intricate mandala out of thousands of grains of colored sand over the course of four days in April 2018 in the newly renovated Old Chapel.
