The University's commitment to fostering an environment free from gender discrimination (including discrimination based on gender identity and expression), sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, and sexual violence extends to all students studying abroad. Although the recently enacted Title IX regulations do not apply to areas outside of the United States, please know that the university’s protections and procedures regarding certain forms of prohibited misconduct, including sexual misconduct, will apply on and off campus, including to international programs, study abroad opportunities, and university sponsored trips.

Off-Campus Resources
In an emergency, you should contact the local police emergency line or the nearest Embassy or Consulate. You can also call the State Department’s emergency numbers from the U.S. & Canada 1-888-407-4747 or from Overseas +1 202-501-4444.
If you are in crisis while overseas, it can be difficult to navigate unfamiliar surroundings, local languages, and customs. Consular officers, consular agents, and local employees at overseas posts know local government agencies and resources in the country where they work. They can provide assistance with contacting friends, family, or the university; obtaining medical care; addressing emergency needs; and connecting you to local and U.S. based resources.
Pathways to Safety addresses the needs of American interpersonal and gender based violence survivors overseas and provides sexual assault prevention and response regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, or location worldwide.
If you are a member of Department of Defense (DoD) community, you can access the DoD Safe Helpline from anywhere in the world for live, one-on-one support. The service is confidential, anonymous, secure, and available 24/7.
