Effects of Hardware Installation on the Static and Dynamic Properties of Open-Grown Trees
Hardware such as rods and cables is often installed on open-grown, urban trees to reinforce the attachment of branches and thus reduce the risk of breakage. However, the efficacy of hardware installation and its effect on trees’ ability to disperse wind energy has not been widely studied. The aim of this project is to better understand and quantify how trees are affected by their hardware.
