2017 Troy Lecture - Anna Deavere Smith

Playwright, actor, and professor Anna Deavere Smith uses her singular brand of theatre to highlight issues of community, character, and diversity in America. The MacArthur Foundation honored Smith with the “Genius” Fellowship for creating “a new form of theatre — a blend of theatrical art, social commentary, journalism, and intimate reverie.” Her work, Doing Time in Education: School-to-Prison Pipeline, explores the cycle of suspension from school to incarceration prevalent in low-income communities.

The Troy lecture will be held Monday, March 27th at 4:30 PM in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall and is free and open to the public.
