Thomas Pickering, PhD candidate, and Elena Kalodner-Martin, PhD student, have been appointed as Assistant Editors for Kairos. Kairos is a refereed open-access online journal exploring the intersections of rhetoric, technology, and pedagogy. Pickering and Kalodner-Martin are both graduate students in the Composition and Rhetoric program.

Pickering's research interests include digital writing technologies, intellectual property, and digital web cooperatives. He is working on a dissertation on textual ownership and writer agency in the age of big data and information capitalism.

Kalodner-Martin's research interests are at the intersection of technical communication and the rhetoric of health and medicine. She currently teaches courses in the Professional Writing and Technical Communication certificate program and is a graduate tutor at the UMass Writing Center.
