The Professional Writing and Technical Communication (PWTC) Program recently partnered with UMass IT and Research Computing & Data to create video tutorials for the Unity Research Computing Platform. This partnership allowed PWTC students enrolled in English 381 to help make cutting-edge computing more accessible to users.

UMass IT says: "Over two fast-paced weeks, PWTC students produced [video] tutorials covering everything from accessing Unity to managing files and software—helping researchers and students navigate this powerful platform with ease. Not only did this project enhance Unity’s documentation, but it also gave PWTC students invaluable real-world experience in technical communication."

Lauren Saloio, an English and PWTC alum '23, and Janine Solberg, PWTC Co-Director, worked together to facilitate this project. Saloio is a Research Fellow at UMass Amherst. In addition to managing Unity’s documentation and Research Computing & Data’s communications, she manages marketing and communications for the UMass Center for Data Science.

Big thanks to Gianna Leidich, PWTC student and Research Computing intern, for capturing the journey in a time-lapse video. Gianna shared her thoughts: “I thought making the video was really fun and I was excited that it gave me another outlet for technical communication (besides writing)."
