The Jones Library in Amherst will be sponsoring a community reading program focused on This Other Eden, a recent work by Paul Harding '92, a UMass Amherst alum who majored in English. The Jones Library has copies of the book to loan out and invites everyone to their programs.
A book discussion of This Other Eden will be held Tuesday, February 13, 7 to 8 pm at the Jones Library, and Harding will be giving an author talk Friday, February 23, 5 to 6:30 pm at Amherst College.
Harding is the Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Tinkers. This Other Eden is his third novel and a TIME must-read book of 2023. It was inspired by a true story about an island off the coast of Maine that became one of the first racially integrated towns in the Northeast.
