Nicole O’Connell, PhD student in composition and rhetoric, recently received two awards from the Association of Teachers of Technical Writing: a Graduate Research Award and an Amplification Award. The Graduate Research Award supports advanced PhD students with clearly defined research projects that contribute to the field of technical and professional communication. The Amplification Award recognizes and amplifies the important contributions of underrepresented students and/or non-tenure track faculty presenting at the ATTW annual conference.
O'Connell recieved the awards for her project "Navigating Description: Compliance Within Archival Documentation." Her research focuses on intersections between technical communication and public history.
