Awards

English MFA alumni JR Mahung (MFA '21) and Claudia Wilson (MFA '21) were awarded Artist Fellowships in Poetry by Mass Cultural Council. Joy Ladin (MFA '95) received a finalist award. Congratulations to all!

Mass Cultural Council’s Artist Fellowships recognize exceptional work by Massachusetts artists across a range of disciplines. In 2022, Artist Fellowships were awarded in Choreography, Poetry, and Traditional Arts. The awards include 21 Fellowships of $15,000 and 37 Finalist awards of $5,000 (increased from $1,500 in recent cycles), plus one honorary Finalist designation.

The Artist Fellowships are direct grants to Massachusetts artists. Except in the category of Traditional Arts, the grants are anonymously judged, based solely on the artistic quality and creative ability of the work submitted.

More information and a full list of Fellows can be found on Mass Cultural Council's website.
