Jedediah Berry, an MFA alum and a Spring 2026 visiting lecturer in the MFA program, recently received the Massachusetts Book Award for fiction for his latest novel The Naming Song.
Berry's first novel, The Manual of Detection, won the Crawford Award and the Hammett Prize, and was adapted for broadcast by BBC Radio. His short fiction has been published in anthologies including Salon Fantastique, Cape Cod Noir, and The Year’s Best Science Fiction & Fantasy. He is the co-creator, with poet Andrew McAlpine, of the award-winning Wildendrem tabletop adventure game setting. He also writes interactive and hybrid works, and his story in cards, The Family Arcana, was a finalist for a World Fantasy Award. He serves as an editor of Ninepin Press, an independent publisher of fiction, poetry, and games in unusual shapes.
