In lieu of its annual Senior Breakfast, held every spring on the morning of Commencement Day, the English Department hosted on May 8 a virtual celebration for graduating English majors.
More than 70 students, faculty, and staff gathered on Zoom at 11:00 am for an hour-long ceremony that included remarks, recognitions, and readings.
Speakers at the ceremony included undergraduate students Natalie Bavar, Donikah Brutus, Nick Conti, Brandon Hamel, Lea Hamel, Emily Ishak, Yashika Issrani, Amberly Lerner, Beth Luvisia, and David Mello, along with English Department faculty and staff Jenny Adams, David Fleming, Janis Greve, John Hennessy, Randall Knoper, TreaAndrea Russworm, Janine Solberg, Celeste Stuart, and Caroline Yang. Other students and faculty virtually applauded and sent their congratulations by chat.
The ceremony is available for viewing online.
Going live the same week were websites honoring the Department’s annual undergraduate scholarship and essay prize winners, the text of Yashika Issrani’s senior recognition speech, and the College of Humanities and Fine Arts’ senior recognition website, which includes a page devoted to graduates from English.
