Early Modern and Renaissance Studies

Founded in 1998, the Kinney Center for Interdisciplinary Renaissance Studies is a research institution serving a dedicated community of scholars, students, artists, and the general public. Our mission is to support and promote interdisciplinary scholarship and public-facing humanities programming with the goal of exploring connections between the early modern world (c. 1400-1700) and our own.

About the Kinney Center

The Center cultivates original and timely research by gathering diverse scholarly communities at public conferences, workshops, lectures, classes, and performances.

Collections

In addition to housing over 25,000 books and monographs related to the English and Continental Renaissance, the Center owns over 900 rare books from the period, covering a range of fields including the History of the Book, Early Modern English Theater, English Literature, Humanism, Historical European Martial Arts, Biblical Texts, Botany and Gardening, Spanish Literature and Theater, and Art History.
