Preparing to Defend and Graduate: MFA Graduate Milestones

Students’ time in the MFA program culminates in the defense of their thesis, which will be a book-length manuscript or a substantial portion of a book-length manuscript. Students should defend their theses within the three years/six semesters of the program. Thesis requirements are established by both the Graduate School and the MFA faculty and must be completed in order to receive the degree. These requirements are identified by the Graduate School as Milestones:

• Confirmation of Thesis Committee
• Master's Degree Eligibility Form
• Thesis Defense
• Final Thesis Submission
