Olivia Barry
PhD in Literature
Olivia Barry is a PhD candidate in English literature. As a scholar of early modern drama, performance studies, and disability studies, Olivia’s research interests are located at the intersections of embodiment, mobility, theater practice, and philology. Her dissertation explores how orienting the practice of dramaturgy through disability epistemologies offers new interpretations and performance possibilities for early modern plays. Olivia has taught courses in the UMass English Department, Humanities and Fine Arts College, and Writing Program. She has also worked as a dramaturg in the Pioneer Valley and was the editorial fellow for the journal English Literary Renaissance from 2024-2026.
