Welcome to the Ellsberg Archive Project’s “Featured Documents”. The following pages contain selected archival material chosen by the students in Professor Christian G. Appy and Professor Kathy Roberts Forde’s 2020-21 seminar “Truth, Dissent, & the Life of Daniel Ellsberg.” Advanced undergraduate and graduate students studied the life and times of Ellsberg, worked with his papers, and conducted oral histories with Ellsberg, his wife Patricia Marx Ellsberg, and a dozen other distinguished guests. The students were divided into four broad topic areas as they worked in the collection: Vietnam War, Pentagon Papers & Watergate, Nuclear Weapons, and Life & Legacy. What follows are a selection of documents from the archive with student commentary on what they represent and why they were chosen.
