Pentagon Papers Defense weekly summary # 18, May 11, 1973

This memo is a 10-page document cataloguing most of the dramatic events that brought the government prosecution of Daniel Ellsberg and Anthony Russo to an end. The words “CASE DISMISSED” written at the top of the document is the perfect dramatic start to all of the drama in this document. I chose this because it is a perfect account of everything that happened at the end of the trial, all in one convenient spot. When preparing this document, the defense team even included newspaper clippings from the time to back up statements within the document, and they included some of the testimony from Howard Hunt, who broke into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters, and Ellsberg’s Psychiatrist’s office.
