EHS provides pick-up services of laboratory waste for recycling, incineration, or landfilling in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Surplus Chemical Inventory Program
The Surplus Chemical Inventory Program is a service managed by EHS. Our goal is to reduce the costly disposal of still useful chemicals and help to ensure sustainability.
The surplus inventory can be access through SciShield and items can be requested through the Surplus Inventory Order Form
Unused and unopened virgin materials are eligible for redistribution through this program. If you have these items and would like to volunteer them for the program, please email AskEHS@umass.edu.
Lab Equipment Disposal
Any lab equipment offered for disposal may contain a variety of materials that could be hazardous to people or the environment, if improperly disposed. To ensure proper disposal, please follow the SOP link below.
Lab Decommissioning and Demolition/Renovation
Whenever lab space is turned over, decontamination of the space must occur to ensure the health and safety of the UMass community and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Follow the lab decommissioning SOP to ensure this process is conducted appropriately.
