
Construction & Contractor Safety
Construction Safety aims to support construction projects at UMass Amherst. These projects include new buildings, renovations of current buildings and spaces as well as excavation of campus grounds. This section covers the specific requirements for construction to be compliant with federal, state and university polices. You can also find information about safety for workers and the campus community in support of campus construction projects.

Workplace Safety
Workplace Safety at UMass Amherst is focused on the safety of campus employees. With the goal to prevent accidents in the workplace by instituting formalized accident, illness and injury prevention programs. Workplace Safety staff conduct annual inspections of all maintenance shops and keep statistics on accidents and injuries in the workplace, as well as injury and accident investigations to create plans to prevent them from happening in the future. Our staff is also able to provide guidance and training on safe workplace best practices. This section has resources for employees on campus to stay safe in the performance of their job duties.
Facilities & Campus Services
Facilities & Campus Services (FCS) is an important EHS partner; they provide management and support for all facilities, infrastructure, grounds, and public transportation. They are also responsible for all building maintenance and custodial services for campus facilities. They also support most building projects, including new construction and renovations of existing buildings. EHS works with FCS to provide safety consultation and support for all projects on campus.
