Dr. Monroe is Assistant Professor of Educational Policy, Research, and Administration at UMass Amherst.  Professor Monroe received his Ph.D. from UCLA's Graduate School of Education & Information Sciences and his M.S. from UCLA's Statistics Department.  Professor Monroe also spent a year at UCLA as a Postdoctoral Scholar under the supervision of Dr. Li Cai, where his responsibilities included providing psychometric support to the Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium.  Generally, Professor Monroe's methodological research focuses on latent variable modeling, usually within an item response theory (IRT) or structural equation modeling framework.  His recent work has involved multidimensional IRT, Student Growth Percentiles, and goodness-of-fit statistics for categorical data models.  His work has been published in journals such as Multivariate Behavioral ResearchEducational and Psychological Measurement, and Measurement: Interdisciplinary Research and Perspectives.  Prior to his doctoral training, Professor Monroe was a high school mathematics teacher in Brooklyn, New York, and Culver City, California.
