Biography

Clinical Director Jennifer Cooper, PhD, NCSP, is a Nationally Certified and Licensed School Psychologist. Prior to joining UMass Amherst’s faculty in the fall of 2019, Dr. Cooper served as a school psychologist, postdoctoral researcher for several federally-funded school-based treatment studies, and tenure-track Assistant Professor at National Louis University in Chicago, IL. Jennifer currently serves on the Editorial boards for the Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation and School Psychology Forum and as a former Chair of the National Association of School Psychologists’ Social Justice Interest Group. She has presented nationally and published on topics related to social justice and mental health in schools. Her primary research and teaching interests focus on meeting the social-emotional needs of marginalized youth in schools, evidence-based practices in schools, implementation science, and training issues related to advocacy/social justice in school psychology. She teaches courses in mental health, biological bases of behavior, cognitive assessment, supervision, and practicum and internship.
