School Psychology Doctoral Program Awarded with Ten Years of Accreditation

The UMass Amherst College of Education School Psychology doctoral program was recently awarded with ten years of accreditation from the American Psychological Association (APA). This accreditation period is the longest that can be awarded, demonstrating the excellence of this training program. Directed by Dr. Sara Whitcomb in collaboration with Drs. Sarah Fefer, John Hintze, and Amanda Marcotte, the UMass Amherst School Psychology program trains school psychologists in an ecologically-oriented, prevention-focused, and evidence-based practice and research paradigm. APA accreditation ensures that our students are provided with the highest quality training in health service psychology and that they are prepared to be licensed by the Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure. Program graduates go on to fill critical shortages in school psychology and contribute to the field in school-based positions, private practice, research and evaluation, and academic positions.
