Professor Gretchen Rossman taught her last class yesterday after 32 years at the College of Education. Fittingly, it was the Qualitative Research course which she pioneered and has taught for decades. The text for the course, Learning in the Field, is in its 4th edition, which she co-authored with Dr. Sharon Rallis. Dr. Rossman has been a faculty member in the Center for International Education for 25 years where she was a PI on development projects in Malawi, India, Palestine and Tanzania. Rossman mentored generations of students – chairing 50 completed doctoral degrees, serving as a member on additional 50 doctoral committees, and advising more than 30 Master’s graduates.
