Dr. Charles Desmond Selected as One of the 50 Most Influential People of Color in Higher Education

College of Education Advocacy Board member Dr. Charles Desmond has been selected as one of Get Konnected!’s 50 Most Influential People of Color in Higher Education in the category of Public Sector. This marks the first time in Greater Boston history that a comprehensive list of this caliber featuring individuals of color in higher education has been compiled. He was nominated and subsequently selected by a committee comprised of distinguished leaders in academia, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Dr. Desmond was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick in September 2008 to the Board of Higher Education and became chair in December 2008. He received his Ed.D. in instructional leadership from our college, serves as Vice-Chair of the UMass Boston Board of Visitors, and is the recipient of 3 honorary doctorates. Congratulations Charlie!
