The Faculty Senate’s Rules Committee, the University Registrar, the Graduate School Dean, and the Associate Registrar have approved accommodations to the usual grading policies for this semester.

The following interim changes to Graduate School policies and deadlines are now in effect. Please contact Shane Hammond, Graduate Program Director ( or Kristin Tyler, Graduate Programs Manager (, with any questions. All degree forms and dissertation-related paperwork should be submitted electronically until further notice.

The Graduate School’s policy requiring that dissertation defenses be held in-person and on-campus was initially suspended through May 7, 2020 as part of the University’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspension of this requirement remains firmly in place until further notice, and most likely beyond May 7. Programs must continue to conduct dissertation defenses via videoconferencing.

The Research and Practice Showcase originally scheduled for April 30 will be postponed until Fall 2020.
