Sade Bonilla, affiliate of the Center for Student Success Research, was recently awarded a Public Service Endowment Grant from the Office of Research & Engagement at UMass Amherst. Dr. Bonilla and Center personnel will provide a robust evaluation of the next iteration of Student 5.0, ReadyCT's rapid-response program to support students from under-resourced school districts. Dr. Torrey Trust and her Mathematics, Science, and Learning Technology doctoral program advisee, Jeromie Whalen, published a new article in Educational Media International titled, "Emergency remote teaching with technology during the COVID-19 pandemic: Using the whole teacher lens to examine educator’s experiences and insights". This study examines survey data collected from 265 K-12 teachers during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chrissy Howard, doctoral student in Language Literacy and Culture and the Director of Reading Success by 4th Grade of Springfield, a community-wide early literacy program, convened the Building Bridges Conference in mid-March 2021.

Associate Professor Chrystal A. George Mwangi, Sean Jung-Hau Chen (M.Ed. ‘20) and Ph.D. Student Pempho Chinkondenji have co-authored a book chapter titled “Exploring Geopolitics in U.S. Campus Internationalization Plans.” This chapter is in the recently (2021) published book by Rutgers University Press titled “U.S. Power in International Higher Education.”

Pempho Chinkondenji, a Ph.D. Student in International Education, has been awarded the Joyce A. Berkman Award for Outstanding Graduate Feminist Scholarship for her essay "(Un)making Schooling for Pregnant learners and Re-Integration of Student Mothers: The formation of Critical Afro-Feminist Education."
