Barnes receives TIDE fellowship

The Institute for Teaching Excellence & Faculty Development (TEFD) announced that Benita Barnes, associate professor and College of Education’s director of diverslty advancement, has been selected as one of the 12 TIDE (Teaching for Inclusiveness, Diversity, & Equity) Ambassadors of the 2017-18 cohort.

Barnes was chosen from an exceptional pool of applicants “because of the perspectives and experiences you will bring to the fellowship, and your proposed contributions to campus‐wide efforts to enhance teaching for inclusiveness, diversity, and equity,” according to Kirsten Helmer, Senior Instructional Consultant/Lecturer, Institute for Teaching Excellence & Faculty Development (TEFD).

The Institute for Teaching Excellence & Faculty Development supports the professional development of faculty across all career stages and disciplines with a wide range of programs and resources focused on teaching, mentoring, scholarly writing, tenure preparation, leadership, and work/life balance.
