The Center for Education Policy (CEP) in the College of Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst was created to put the University's research capacity to work on key education policy issues and program implementation in New England and beyond. CEP connects UMass faculty and graduate students with policymakers and practitioners to guide their policy and program development and to improve their programs and practices. The Center conducts studies, evaluates initiatives, provides technical assistance, and facilitates organizational change in the PreK-16 educational arena. Our guiding mission has evolved to focus on program evaluation and connecting policies to the practitioners who implement them. We provide services directly to clients and leverage our evaluation skills to support the work of collaborating Centers.
Core Research Areas
Our evaluation and technical assistance serves various state and regional agencies and associations, including: the Collaborative for Educational Services; MA Department of Mental Health; MA Department Elementary and Secondary Education; MA Teachers’ Association; MA Public Charter School Association. Through these activities, we contribute to the University’s commitment to serving public needs in the state. As well, our evaluations funded by the National Education Association demonstrate our contribution to national innovation efforts. (Read more...)
