Student Achievement

The 4th New England Korean Speech Contest was held at Boston College on April 8, 2023. This event was hosted by Boston College’s Department of Eastern, Slavic, and German Studies, together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korean in Boston and the New England Association of College Korean Educators.

Speeches were given by 21 students form seven institutions including Boston College, Brandeis University, Brown University, Harvard University, MIT, Wellesley College and UMass. Three UMass students participated in the competition: Tu Van, Arora Lynch, and Antonio Romano. Their speeches were well-received, amusing, and impressive.

The UMass Korean Language program is happy to announce that Antonio Romano won the first place in Advanced level with his speech on “Study Tips for Learning Korean”. Tu Van in the Beginning level won a Popularity Award by receiving the most votes from the audience with her speech “The Incident that Occurred During Korean Class”.
