Join us every Wednesday this spring semester for Chinese Language Club! All levels of Chinese language ability are welcome. If you're interested in Chinese language and culture then this is the place! Each week we'll have activities and discussions for you to enjoy and participate in. 

The list below will be updated as the weekly activities are scheduled. Please keep checking back to see what we have in store. Hope to see you there!

*We will plan to meet every Wednesday in the spring semester except for holidays.

  • 2/15 - Chinese New Year: Customs & Traditions - We'll discuss some different things you may not have known about Chinese New Year, and learn some useful vocabulary!
  • 2/28 - Chinese Lantern Festival - We'll talk about the Chinese Lantern Festival, and you will have the opportunity to make your own Chinese paper-folding!
  • 3/6 - Chinese Architecture - We'll discuss different styles of Chinese architecture and look at how traditional and modern architecture is combined. Plus, we will learn some new vocabulary!
  • 3/13 - Chinese Temples - This week, we will discuss various religions and temples found in China. We will talk about how monks live, and will learn some useful vocabulary.
  • 3/27 - Chinese Art, Artifacts, Porcelain - We'll talk about Chinese art and artifacts, and discuss why Chinese porcelain is so valuable. Plus we will learn some useful vocabulary!
  • 4/3 - Qingming Festival - We will talk about this important Chinese festival and the history behind it.
  • 4/10 - Chinese Culture: Values - What do Chinese people value most as a nation? How are traditional Chinese values similar to western values, and how are they different? We will discuss these topics and learn some useful vocabulary!
  • 4/17 - Respect for Elders in China - We will discuss the value that respect for elders brings to Chinese people, and learn about the history along with some useful vocabulary!
  • 4/24 - Chinese Silk Road - We'll talk about the Chinese Silk Road and its importance in history. Plus we'll learn some useful vocabulary.
  • 5/1/24 - Chinese Opera and Ballet - We'll discuss the history of Chinese opera and ballet, and will watch a video of a performance. In addition, we'll learn some useful vocabulary!
  • 5/8/24 - Sports in China - We will talk about the most popular sports, and discuss the history of developing sports in China. And as always, we will learn some useful vocabulary!
