The MassBenchmarks project is an initiative of the University of Massachusetts Donahue Institute. The project mobilizes economic experts within the University of Massachusetts system and from other public and private research institutions around the state to produce and distribute relevant assessments of the Massachusetts economy through reports, commentary, and analysis. The journal is published online and in hardcopy. Additional publications offering current assessments of the state economy are released electronically on a regular basis.
What We Do
MassBenchmarks Journal
Released twice per year, the MassBenchmarks Journal provides timely information about the Massachusetts economy, economic analyses of major geographic regions within the Commonwealth, assessments of key industries that make up the economic base of the state, and balanced economic perspectives on policy and investment issues facing Massachusetts. Analysis of economic data and commentary are aimed at public policy makers, business leaders and the general public.
Massachusetts Current and Leading Indexes
The quarterly Massachusetts Current and Leading Indexes discusses Massachusetts GDP growth relative to the national economy and analyzes trends seen in key indicators. It is developed by Dr. Alan Clayton-Matthews, Senior Contributing Editor of the MassBenchmarks journal.
Notes from the Board
The quarterly Notes from the Board is created by the MassBenchmarks Editorial Board, economic analysts from academia, the private sector and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Meetings of the MassBenchmarks editorial board provide a forum for focused discussion about current conditions and the outlook for the Massachusetts economy. Commentary and key points from the discussion are summarized and released to provide regular updates about economic conditions to the general public.
