Disability Center At UMass: Survey for Student Feedback

May 1, 2024

Disability identity/cultural centers have been emerging in higher education spaces all over the country. A disability cultural center is a safe and supportive space that aims to foster a sense of belonging and celebrate disability communities. A disability cultural center is multifaceted in that it can:

  1. serve as a connecting point for community, education, and advocacy
  2. work to normalize and promote awareness of disability and disability identities
  3. support students of all disability identities by providing physical space for belonging, connections to support resources, and fun and social activities that build community

A cross-campus initiative, the disability center working group is seeking to better understand how and in what form a disability center would be most beneficial at UMass. The following survey was developed to collect input students, specifically students who identify as disabled.  This survey is anonymous, and the data collected from it will be used solely for the purposes of delivering recommendations to campus leadership about how students could benefit from a disability center.

The survey should take about 8-10 minutes to complete. If you have questions or concerns about this survey, please reach out to Rachel Adams, Assistant Director for Disability Services rmadams@umass.edu.
