In this workshop we will explore what belonging means in the context of our individual identities, develop a collective living definition of belonging, and explore ways to increase belonging in areas where we have some agency to do so. The facilitators will also share a Belonging Framework that helps conceptualize the small and big ways we can make an impact for ourselves and others. Our goal is to explore possible ways of knowing what one can do to increase belonging in our work and our lives. This workshop was developed from an Intergroup Dialogue perspective that focuses on increasing our understanding of one another and using that increased understanding to influence our actions and choices in the classroom, in our offices, and in our daily interactions.

Facilitator(s):

  • Heather Reed (she/her), Microbiology, Senior Lecturer, Undergraduate Program Director, Department Honors Program Director
