Non-Discrimination Policy

Equal Opportunity and Access at UMass Amherst works to maintain a safe, inclusive campus by addressing issues like discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation. They also provide training, guidance, and resources to support the community in understanding and complying with related policies and laws.

Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Interpersonal Violence

The University of Massachusetts Amherst prohibits discrimination, harassment, and retaliation based on protected characteristics such as race, gender, disability, and more in educational and employment contexts. The policy ensures compliance with federal and state laws like Title IX, ADA, and others. Administration and enforcement are led by the Associate Vice Chancellor for Equal Opportunity and Access (AVC/EOA), supported by trained staff. This office oversees efforts to ensure an inclusive and equitable environment.

Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment Resolution Procedures

EOA enforces the University's Policy Against Discrimination, Harassment, and Related Interpersonal Violence in addition to the corresponding Prohibited Discrimination and Harassment Resolution Procedures.

The resolution procedures outline how reports and complaints about discrimination, harassment, or other prohibited conduct are handled. They offer informal and formal resolution processes, ensuring fairness and support for all involved. Equal Opportunity and Access oversees these processes, providing support and investigating complaints while avoiding conflicts of interest. The procedures emphasize equitable treatment and accessibility, accommodating disabilities as needed, and are aligned with university and legal standards. For more details, refer to the full policy.
