Campus Climate Improvement Grants and Conversations: Get Involved

March 26, 2018

To the Campus Community,

In January, we encouraged you to submit your ideas and proposals for projects you felt would help make the campus more respectful of and inclusive for all. You answered that call to action with enthusiasm, and we are pleased to share the list of recipients for the spring 2018 climate improvement grants.

We also heard from many of you that you were interested in submitting ideas, but you wanted your project to take place in the following academic year. So, we have officially opened applications for the 2018-19 Campus Climate Improvement Grants. Applications are due April 23.

As with the spring grants, I encourage all of you to think of creative ways to participate in reshaping our campus climate both within your areas and across campus. Special consideration will be given to projects that encourage participation and coordination between two or more areas, schools, departments, organizations or groups.

All students, staff and faculty are invited to join the climate conversations that will begin in your area in the coming weeks. This is an important opportunity to imagine change at the unit level. More details will come from your vice chancellor or dean shortly. We encourage you to take an active role in creating the atmosphere you want at UMass.

Sincerely,

Enobong (Anna) Hannah Branch, Ph.D.
Associate Chancellor for Equity and Inclusion, Chief Diversity Officer
