About Ebru
Ebru Kardan serves as a strategic collaborative leader overseeing communications, events, messaging, and outreach efforts to enhance internal and external visibility for diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at UMass Amherst. She co-leads major campus-wide campaigns, including the Building a Community of Dignity and Respect and awareness of the Campus Climate Survey. Ebru also plans and executes signature events such as the annual Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Conference and, along with campus partners, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Racial Healing Brunch.
In her role, Ebru co-manages the UMass Community, Democracy, and Dialogue event series, fostering open dialogue across differences, and ensures the impact of OEI programming through comprehensive feedback systems. She oversees multiple DEI-focused websites, including UMass Black Presence and UMass ADVANCE, while developing new platforms like UMass Native Presence.
Ebru holds a B.A. in Philosophy and Art History from Rutgers University.
