About Disability Services

Mission Statement

Disability Services at UMass Amherst is committed to full access for all students at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and embraces the philosophy of social justice. Our office promotes the empowerment of people with disabilities and their full integration into campus life and the community. Direct services are provided for all types of disability. Disability Services also provides information and referral on issues of accessibility, and provides training and staff development to the University community.

Disability Services only works with accepted and enrolled students. Students only need to register once (assuming more documentation is not needed) but are expected to inform us of their enrollment status and needs each semester. This can be done by sending out accommodation forms within Clockwork and/or completion of requests through submission of information to a DS staff member.
