Review Your Approved Accommodation Letter (AAL)
Once the Review Committee grants one or more accommodations, your assigned Access Coordinator will email you and attach your Approved Accommodation Letter (AAL).
It is very important that you take the time to read your AAL, as it contains important information about using your accommodations. You will be expected to fulfill your responsibilities in accessing each approved accommodation.
What is an AAL?
The Approved Accommodation Letter (AAL) is a reference document for you. It outlines what accommodations Disability Services has approved for you and how to use them appropriately. It is not the same letter that instructors receive when you send your accommodation letters each semester.
The AAL includes:
-
A list of the approved accommodation(s)
-
If applicable, an explanation of why a particular requested accommodation was not able to be provided
-
Detailed instructions for how to send your accommodation letters to your instructors each semester
-
Important relevant information about each accommodation, including, as applicable:
-
What the University provides (whether that is Disability Services, Housing, Facilities, instructors, etc.)
-
What the student is allowed to do under the accommodation(s)
-
What steps the student must take to properly implement the accommodation(s)
-
Any other applicable policies or instructions
-
-
Identification of your assigned Access Coordinator, who will be your main point of contact within Disability Services
Unless specifically stated as a temporary accommodation, approved accommodations are granted until a student's separation from the university. You can contact your assigned AC directly with any questions, concerns, or additional requests.
Accommodation Review Meeting
After receiving and reviewing your AAL, if you have any questions or would like support with setting up your approved accommodations, you can schedule an Accommodation Review meeting with your assigned Access Coordinator. That meeting can be scheduled within Clockwork, and the email will contain instructions on all the steps.
