Frequently Asked Questions
A: Please see our documentation page for more information.
A: During periods with a high volume of student requests, particularly in the Fall semester, wait times for an appointment with an Access Coordinator may be 4-5 weeks. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer sooner appointments than the availability shown in our Online Booking Portal. After you have booked the soonest available appointment, if you would like to be placed on our Wait List to be notified if a cancellation opens a sooner appointment slot, please call 413-545-0892.
A: Some types of accommodations are less likely to compromise course learning objectives or lower academic expectations. Other accommodations are more nuanced, and often require an AC to have a deeper understanding of your access needs, which we achieve through gathering your self-report in the initial Welcome Meeting.
A: Yes! If you would like to request additional accommodations beyond what you are already approved for, please use Clockwork’s Online Booking Portal to schedule a Check-In meeting with your assigned AC.
A: Our Registration Coordinator screens all incoming requests and determines if an initial meeting with an AC is necessary. If you have received an email inviting you to schedule a Welcome Meeting, this means that, unfortunately, your request likely cannot be reviewed without a meeting. You are welcome to call 413-545-0892 or email @email to let us know about your concerns. We are happy to look at your request and see if some of your requests can be processed before your initial meeting, but this would likely only apply to only a few of the requests you are making, assuming there is sufficient supporting documentation.
A: You do not have to renew your registration to maintain existing accommodations, however there are other steps you may need to take during your time at UMass to access your accommodations.
For classroom and exam accommodations, you need to submit your accommodation letters to faculty each semester. Letters are sent through Clockwork by clicking on the “Review and Request Accommodations (Submit Letters)” button and following the prompts.
Similarly, for housing accommodations you need to participate in Residential Life’s housing assignment processes, including meeting all of their established deadlines for requesting appointments, and selecting your room during the assigned time.
A: No, you do not need to re-register unless you request new or additional accommodations. You can email @email and ask them who your assigned AC is if you have any other questions.
A: Make sure you have fully submitted your Registration Form in Clockwork. Additionally, please make sure to check your UMass email for communication from our office regarding next steps. If you have fully submitted your form and have not received any email response within five business days, please email @email.
We also recommend checking your spam folder, as the response email may have been delivered in error. Email addresses to check for are @email (this email sends automated messages from Clockwork), @email (used by our Registration Coordinator once your registration form has been processed), and @email (our main contact email address).
A: We encourage you to register with our office, even if you are unsure if you have a need for accommodations or will qualify for accommodations. It is better to get the process started early and have support in place before you start to face challenges, keeping in mind that our review process can take 2-3 weeks to complete. You are not required to send out your faculty letters or utilize accommodations if you don’t want to.
