Disability Services is charged with providing equal access to accepted and enrolled students. Institutions of higher education must ensure that individuals with disabilities (applicants, employees, students and guests) are able to:
- Independently acquire the same information;
- Engage in the same interactions;
- Enjoy the same benefits and services;
- Within the same timeframes as their non-disabled peers;
- With substantially equivalent ease of use.
Mission Statement
The mission of UMass Disability Services is to provide equitable access to quality higher education and campus life through reasonable accommodations, using an interactive process. We promote self-advocacy and connect students to resources as they navigate their college experience.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to cultivate an accessible environment for students, with the goal of working towards a more just world. Through collaboration with campus stakeholders, we work to foster diverse, inclusive learning and social communities for the empowerment of all students.
