Film Rental Information
The DEFA Film Library rents films on DCP, 35mm, 16mm, DVD and Vimeo; please see FILM COLLECTIONS for more information. Films are available for personal research, classroom screenings and non-commercial public performances. They may be rented by researchers, public libraries, high schools, colleges and universities, and cultural organizations. Rental fees vary as follows, based on format and purpose:

NB: The commercial exhibition of these titles is strictly prohibited.
Rental prices are for one screening only—except in the case of streaming, where the rental contract will specify a period of up to one week. Multiple screenings will be itemized on the contract and invoice.
Rental Requests
Rental Requests must be submitted at least three weeks before the desired screening date. We will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs. To guarantee the service of your request, we require that the signed rental agreement be returned within seven days.
All requests must include the title, format and the requested screening date for each selection (if applicable), as well as type of rental (public performance, classroom, individual research). Please provide shipping address, phone and fax numbers, as well as billing information of the person authorizing payment.
Cancellations
Any rental request may be cancelled without obligation, provided that the DEFA Film Library receives written notification at least seven days before the film is to be shipped, or full rental and handling charges will apply.
