DEFA @ MoMA!

The long-awaited restoration of Heiner Carow’s The Russians Are Coming (1968/87) was screened as part of the Musuem of Modern Art festival To Save and Project on November 3 and 7, 2016.

The 14th MoMA International Festival of Film Preservation (Nov 2 – 23), presented newly preserved and restored rarities and masterworks from around the world. The 2K DCP version of The Russians Are Coming was recently restored under the supervision of film historian Ralf Dittrich, in collaboration with the DEFA Foundation and ARRI Munich/Berlin.

This screening was the film’s North American premiere. It is also the first time that a DEFA film has been invited to this festival!
