Winterbauer, Marcus

Biography:
Marcus Winterbauer, director of cinematography, was born in 1965. In 1996, he completed his training as a cameraman at the Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg. While still a student, he worked with director Rainer Simon on the documentary Die Farben von Tigua. Winterbauer has made a number of award-winning documentary and fiction films. His film Die große Stille won the 2006 European Film Award and the Special Jury Award at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival. This documentary about the Carthusian religious order was praised by the international press as one of the most mesmerizing and poetic chronicles of spirituality ever created.
