Biography:

Gino Hahnemann was born in Jena in 1946. He studied architecture in Weimar and worked as a freelance model, stage set designer, conceptual artist, Super-8 filmmaker, and photographer. Hahnemann wrote several plays for the theater and directed Super-8 films based on his own scripts. In the 1980s, his poems and literary work were published mainly in underground magazines. Hahnemann was closely connected to the East German gay scene. In 1993, he founded the annual Literarischer Bildsalon at the Brecht-Haus in Berlin, where he was author, programmer, and moderator. In 1994, Hahnemann and the American poet John Epstein started to translate each other’s poems. Hahnemann died in 2006.
