Biography:
Volker Ranisch was born in Chemnitz, East Germany, in 1966. He studied performing arts at the Academy for Theater in Leipzig from 1986 to 1990. His debut was as a theater actor at the Städtischen Bühnen in Leipzig; he has also appeared as a guest performer at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin and Schauspielhaus in Zürich.
Ranisch began his film career in 1988, in Frank Beyer’s crime movie Der Bruch. This was followed by many other roles in television and cinema films.
Since 2002, Volker Ranisch has been part of the Theater im Palais ensemble in Berlin and has also worked as a theater director.
