Lamprecht, Günter
Biography:
Günter Lamprecht was born in 1930 in Berlin. He took acting classes at the Max Reinhardt School and performed at various theaters until he joined the Schiller Theater in Berlin, where he worked until 1972. Since the 1960s, he has appeared in over 150 film and television productions. After playing supporting roles in over 30 films, in 1975 Lamprecht finally was given the lead in Oskar Runze’s film Das Messer im Rücken. In 1973, Rainer Werner Fassbinder cast him in Martha, and other collaborations with Fassbinder followed, including Welt am Draht and Die Ehe der Maria Braun. Lamprecht garnered international praise for his interpretation of Franz Biberkopf in Fassbinder’s Berlin Alexanderplatz.
