A Successful Man
(Un hombre de éxito)
Solás, Humberto |
Granados, Daisy |
Synopsis
A chronicle of three decades, beginning in the 1930s and ending with the Cuban revolution, is represented through the lives of two brothers separated by ideology and ambition.
Javier, thirsting for power and consumed by ambition, is totally lacking in scruples and will do anything that serves his own ends. Darió, a radical idealist whose middle-class origins do not curb his longing for revolution, refuses the temptation to sell out, even if it means losing the woman he loves to his detested brother.
Solás' meticulous attention to detail illuminates this story of corruption versus innocence, which has been compared to The Godfather. The first Cuban film considered for an Oscar for Best Foreign Film.
