This documentary follows Gerhard Grimmer, the party secretary at the Buna chemical plant, and relations between the plant's management and its employees, as he attempts to improve morale among the workers. Always concerned about the feelings and needs of the mostly-female employees, he is well-liked by them. Each day is a challenge for Grimmer as he tactfully uses his charming manner and smart appearance to improve the factory's atmosphere and solve various problems.
