Synopsis
Max Hoelz, an energetic and charismatic revolutionary hero of the communist movement in the Weimar Republic, is profiled in this documentary by director Günter Jordan. After Hoelz aggresively tries to spread his communist ideals across Germany, he is sentenced to life in prison, but later released. Under the orders of the KPD, Hoelz – who has by now become quite popular – is sent to the Soviet Union to work. He is denaturalized by the Nazis and eventually dies in 1933 under mysterious circumstances.
